Liquor Illustrations – The Art of Illustrating Spirits

Staying with the topic of Spirits from my previous post, I would like to share some more liquor Illustrations with you.

Seagram’s Crown Royal Liquor Illustration

I also was called on to do an illustration for Seagram’s well-known whiskey, Crown Royal. This was a pretty big deal. Most noteworthy, the ad agency wanted to experiment with the bottle in a number of ways. First of all, Cap-off, Standing alone, and with a Rocks Glass. We even included the Purple Sack, etc. It was a lot of sketching! Finally, we got to the finished image. Here it is:

I also made a color version, which looks like this…

Aalborg’s Akvavit Liquor Illustration

Next, something a bit different. The Scandinavian company that makes the liquor Akvavit, Aalborg, approached me to do a 150th Anniversary packaging illustration for this historic brand. So, my illustration was used on the decorative box, and as an engraving on the bottle. Here is the result:

The actual illustration commemorates a truce between two soldiers, making peace with a toast of this invigorating Eau-de-Vie

I drew this illustration in woodcut style, to give it a more historical feel. As a result, the linear quality of this illustration requires a slow-going approach. This is the only way to achieve the smooth lines seen here. Skoal!
