Illustrating Automobiles – The Fine Art of Automobile Illustration

This post of automobile illustration concerns itself with all things automotive. People seem to have a fascination with cars. I, myself, occasionally get drawn into a certain model or type.

For years, I bought a series of SAABs. I considered them to be the ultimate ride! Here is a convertible I used to own:

Nowadays, I drive a 2007 BMW wagon. It’s pretty cool.

My solicitor friend in Ireland has a thing for the automobile, too. He went to great lengths to purchase a 1938 Alvis a few years ago. So, I illustrated it for him…

When I was working for Worth magazine, I usually illustrated business types who were dressed for success, as they say. This subject appeared in Worth with one of his favorite assets. It was a nice break from the ordinary:

I did some work for Mercedes, too. Here is a detail that was illustrated in a newspaper ad:

Cars and trucks have been around for a long time. Here’s an oldie —- a commercial vehicle from the 1920’s. This image was animated and rolled through a diorama of my illustrations. The project was for a whiskey distiller named Brown-Forman:

Speaking of trucks, here is an illustration from my years at The Wall Street Journal:

Back in the 1980’s, it was considered a novel thing for a woman to be a trucker, so The Journal wrote about it.

To finish up, I leave you with a glamor shot. A movie type in his limo…
