A while back, I was asked to produce an oversized portrait of Charles Darwin for my former employer, Dow Jones & Co. They were planning a promotional campaign that would appear in the Wall Street Journal, their world-famous newspaper. Naturally, I said I’d be thrilled to contribute. After the price of the commission was negotiated, my wife, “the Idea Lady”, came up with the notion that I would cut the price by $500. to get my credit line included in the ad.
