Wall Street Journal Hedcuts style portraits from the Hand of Kevin Sprouls
This time, we revisit the hallmark portrait style as seen for so many years in the WSJ …with a twist. After I quit my day job at the Journal, churning out illustrations on a daily basis, I went out into the wide World to ply my craft for many, many clients. The following examples are of a higher order than the Wall Street Journal hedcut portraits, though executed in the same style by me, the creator of this iconic imagery.
These three portraits were done together as a group, likely for a printed Annual Report. The detail is considerably higher than the usual WSJ offerings…
I achieve the higher detail by working at a larger size than I normally do. It entails roughly twice the amount of labor, and my fee usually runs at double the normal rate for these.
I hope you enjoyed getting a detailed glimpse of some of my finer portraits.
