The Art of Demotivation

A few years ago, I was approached by the folks at Despair, Inc. to work on a series of illustrations for their book, "The Art of Demotivation". I was a little unsure about taking this on, as the whole concept seemed somewhat cynical. Nonetheless, in the interest of creating some great imagery, I agreed to the assignment. The publisher wanted a serious, formal style to compliment their satirical romp through the world of business, so I suppose it was only natural to call on the original hedcut portrait artist from the Wall Street Journal. All told, we did 18 stipple illustrations, including a hedcut portrait of the author, E.L. Kersten, PH.D., pictured here...
