A Memorial Portrait

Last week, I delivered a portrait of one dearly-departed. The loved one's nephew wrote to me to ask for his aunt's portrait, as he remembered her in early years. I was told of her vibrant early life and subsequent battles with untimely health issues, and was very happy to create my tribute.The source material was compromised and pocked with age...I did what I could, and came up with this:The recipient of the finished art, my client, was very satisfied, saying that the image he received made him at once very happy, and very sad. My task accomplished, and well-appreciated, I moved on to the next assignment. But... more on that next time.
