Illustrations for a Mystery Series

I recently visited the island of Aruba with my wife, to celebrate our anniversary. While there, I was able to fit in a good book,"The Ruby in the Smoke", by young readers author Philip Pullman.Several years ago, I was asked to create a collection of cover illustrations for some of Mr. Pullman's titles. These were produced for The Sally Lockhart Mystery series...above, art for "The Tin Princess""The Shadow in the North""The Ruby in the Smoke", the volume I read... it contained lots of memorable characters, plot twists, and a fascinating description of the impact of opium within the context of the Victorian world. An excellent read. "The Tiger in the Well"These were all done using watercolors and colored pencils, with the last step being the application of pen-and-ink over all. I had fun doing them, and was glad to be a part of this terrific series of books.
