Illustrations for an Irish Yacht Club
I was retained, several weeks ago, to create a series of illustrations for an Irish Yacht Club in the WSJ style that I pioneered many years ago. I share some of them here.
Illustrations for an Irish Yacht Club
These images are being used in a commemorative book for the Burrishoole Yacht Club in Ireland. Brett McGuire, the Art Director at Uhlig.com wanted a historical, 18th-century feel for the project, and I did my best to oblige him.
Pirate Queen
It was most enjoyable creating these unique drawings. The lady above is playing the Pirate Queen, Grace O’Malley. Quite the character!
Paron Saint
This illustration of St. Patrick is derived from a stained-glass church window.
Spanish Commander
Alonso Martinez de Leyva, a Commander of the Spanish Armada.
Tender
Here, a landscape including the club’s tender, or motor-launch.I have yet to see these in book form, but I’m sure the storyline therein will explain a lot about these Illustrations for an Irish Yacht Club!
