More New Yorker Illustrations

All images, c. Kevin Sprouls This is likely the last of my New Yorker Illustrations series. I had a wonderful couple of years working for my favorite magazine, and created some of my best work for them.We'll start with my very first assignment: an Illustration to advertise the opening of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. (This was the early 1990's.)It was fun to pictorialize the gritty night-time streets of New York. Garbage bags, Con-Ed manhole cover, etc. Way before Covid-19! Lots of cross-hatching in this piece.Nearby, at a more upscale venue, the Metropolitan Museum was exhibiting it's newest collection, in a show called "Pompeii". The exhibit was sponsored by IBM Corporation, so we afforded them a graphical mention within this mosaic from the show.Next, the great Ammadeus...This was a fun, patternistic treatment of the Musical Great for that season of 'Mostly Mozart', a New York summer tradition.Finally, one of the last illustrations I created for the New Yorker, a shot from the clasic film, "Last Year in Marienbad". It was a smal drawing but graceful in it's way. Note my signature on the pavement, left.I had a great time doing these illustrations, and I hope you've enjoyed viewing them.'Til next time...
