Couples Portrait Art
This time, some new portraits of couples I think you’ll enjoy. Let’s start with a double portrait I did for a magazine called “LORE” (Lives of Real Estate)…
RV Couple
I worked for this ‘zine regularly for a couple of years illustrating people and their passions after retirement. The couple above were excited to be recreational vehicle afficionados, so I got to draw their RV along with their portraits.
Next, we move on to the heart of this post: Portraits commissioned by couples of themselves to celebrate themselves. I like doing this type of project because I feel I’m supporting the bond between two people. Hence…
A cute couple — looks like it could be from a snapshot of their wedding day. The next couple look like their having a good moment…
I like his ‘impish’ expression, and her unalloyed joie-de-vivre! The last of this trio is the best: a good, well-lit photo does wonders for my work as an illustrator and portraitist…
This is a beautiful composition which was easy to make into a tribute to this handsome couple. All three of these drawings are in my collection.
Next up, let’s get conceptual!
American Gothic Revisited
I made this take-off of Grant Woods’ iconic painting while I was at The Wall Street Journal. I guess it expressed the sentiments of a story about rural, agricultural investors. They gave me great latitude at WSJ. I could do no wrong there for many years, and I loved doing the work, day after day.
Several years after my resignation from The WSJ, they were generous enough to hire me for more of my illustration work. One of the images I made for them depicts a burned-out couple, still up working when they ought to be sleeping!
I guess we’ve all been there (I know I have!)
And, there you have it, my latest intallment on Couples Portrait Art. I hope it was of interest. More coming soon…
