Kevin Sprouls Art Exhibit

Last month, an art exhibit of my work opened here in Tryon, North Carolina. It will hang at the TACS art space for another two weeks. The exhibit was curated by Lilly Corbus and Will Barclift. They did a masterful job of hanging and arranging the show, selecting some 45 framed pieces of the 65 I submitted. Opening night was well-attended…

I even created a new self-portrait for the show… Thanks for the inspiration, Rembrandt!

Here is a virtual tour of the gallery, in pictures…

Going from left-to-right, the show begins with my recent portrait, a short bio, then some original art I created while at The Wall Street Journal.

Above, some pictures are shown with their printed end-products… The WSJ, New York Times. The case in the corner contains several books containing my illustrations. On the right, some ‘currency art’ commissioned by Sports Illustrated and Newsweek magazines.

Will did a great job with signage in the show. The seven pieces on left were created for The New Yorker magazine.

This wall contains Boston skylines, then and now, A ‘so-called’ Victory image that almost ran in The New York Daily News! and a few American presidents. There are a couple of maps, a drawing of Jane Goodall and chimp, and some attractive botanical illustrations.

Directly opposite the refreshment stand, a case containing copies of many drawings I did for WSJ, as well as a Last Supper drawing and some wine and beer imagery.

An Ad for those wanting prints

My wife, Roe, and I at the reception. I must thank the folks at Tryon Arts and Craft School for putting on such a worthy presentation of my work. I hope you, Dear Reader, enjoyed the show!
