A Project Long Delayed, Part 3
In this final segment, I present the more recent art I created for this long delayed project. The materials I created in 1977 did not include cover art. So I had to create illustrations for a front and back. Also, the story seemed to need an extra image toward the end. I made the art for illustration 7, “Bellringer”, in 2024. Here is the page design containing it:
The cover designs came out well. Here they are, back and front:
The central diamond device depicts a Kouros — one of those ancient Greek sculptures — as a nod to Homer, who partly inspired this Tale.
This art was created in 2024, my black-and-white art colorized by Sarah Jones. Another art piece that is included in the upcoming book is a current self-portrait:
The image above is at the beginning of the book, an author portrait. There is also a surprise self-portrait at the very end of the book, that I created in 1978 or so…
The portrait I did myself, the surround I pulled from a book of classic Fantasy Illustration. I do not recall the artist, but the art is signed with an “N” (look to the right of image).
My book designer thought I should make a decorative piece to conclude my Tale… Here it is:
