Classic WSJ Art, Part 28

As before, we begin with a couple of WSJ hedcuts…

Here is one with a rectangular frame around it. Eventually, we decided that an open frame was best. The subject: Alice Young. I’m guessing a TV personality. I was pleased with the drawing, so I signed it (left, bottom corner). Next, an interesting case of appearing more than once in the pages of The Journal:

I actually lifted the original portrait, which ran as a ½-column insertion, and embellished it with the company logo (Louisiana Pacific). Then, I seamlessly added to and filled-out the drawing, adding lapels, shoulder and background — not a bad feat!
Above, the naval vessel Ticonderoga, a one-column illustration, Page One in The Wall Street Journal. Going from the puissant to the weak, here is an image that accompanied a story on Homelessness in America, then becoming a widening concerning…
