Logo Illustrations

I created a logo illustration a couple of days ago for a new group that is organizing in my neck of the woods. It’s called Generations Against Single-use Plastics, or G.A.S.P. Here is my design:

G.A.S.P. logo

It’s fun to take a divergent path from my usual pointillistic style occasionally. I enjoy getting graphic. All elements in this image were hand-drawn. The computer was used to smooth and refine the image.

Next, two alternate logo designs for an electronics company called Bomb Factory. The central idea behind the concept was the company’s use of legacy, old-school vacuum tubes. Here are the two logos:

Sawblade version

Gear version

These are also hand-drawn. (I have a lot of drafting tools at my disposal.)

Next up, a logo I designed for a cosmetic company that makes bath products using beer. This is a small start-up based in Pennsyvania. The client was fairly specific about what she wanted, so I quickly got to the finished art:

Beer-Tub logo

The most challenging part of this drawing was the head of foam in the wooden tub. It took a few tries before I arrived at the version I was satisfied with.

Lastly, a commission from the son of an old friend. I liked his pitch, so I took up the project. Sean Healy was looking for a design for a new beer brand, called Kid-Rad. Here is the design I came up with:

Kid-Rad Sparkling Ale

This was a fun design to execute. It took some effort to develop the skeleton hands so that they properly hoist the two bottles in the image. It’s a fun design, hip in a macabre way. When I was in art school, I had a drawing teacher who had us students draw skeleton bones for a good month. I considered it a somewhat futile exercise. But, who knows? Maybe it helped with this illustration!
